Meet the instructor

Dick Adams, PE, PTOE

Dick Adams earned his BS from Texas Tech University and MS from the University of Washington. In the 1990’s he worked for WSDOT signal operations in Seattle before heading a comprehensive ITS conversion throughout the 2000’s as the Traffic Engineer for the City of Lynnwood. He has experience both as a consultant and service provider, most notable as the ITS Maintenance Manager for VDOT’s program for four years. Working with many central systems, controllers, and ITS equipment throughout his almost 30 years in transportation, he has become adept in creative solutions for complex traffic situations. His experience in maintenance, operations, and management with ITS technologies on both the public and private side of our industry has attributed to what is a very unique perspective today.
